FERROL B BY VITRUM (c. 1920s–1940s)

PRICE: £32
An exceptional and highly collectible Scandinavian pharmaceutical specimen originating from Stockholm, Sweden. Standing at 20.5cm tall, this rich honey-amber glass bottle features an elegant rectangular form with distinctive chamfered (beveled) corners, characteristic of early 20th-century Northern European apothecary design. The bottle retains its authentic, original cork closure, securely pressed halfway into the collar. This specimen is uniquely distinguished by its rare, comprehensive four-sided yellow and white paper label that wraps seamlessly around the entire perimeter of the glass body. The typography and branding showcase the prestigious crest of Apoteksvarucentralen Vitrum (Apotekareaktiebolaget Stockholm), the historic Swedish pharmaceutical authority. The primary face displays the formula name "FERROL B" in a striking blue arch, sub-titled "LIQUOR FERRI CASEINOPEPTONATI" with a 1% addition of cascara sagrada (ext. fl. rh. pursh. examar), formulated specifically as an easily absorbable iron tonic that avoids systemic constipation. The flanking panels provide meticulous historical criteria, including an analytical endorsement by the prominent Swedish medical professor Dr Carl Th. Mörner, a detailed chemical declaration under Swedish special specification number 1326 (Kontr. nr 279), and comprehensive dosage instructions proclaiming the liquid as a potent blood-building tonic (stärkande, blodbildande, välsmakande). Condition: The robust amber glass structure is in immaculate condition with no chips, cracks, or internal clouding. The original all-enveloping paper label is remarkably intact and beautifully preserved, showing only light, authentic age-toning that enhances its genuine vintage provenance. The original cork remains firmly in place. A superb, high-quality centerpiece for collectors of European medical history or curators of sophisticated cabinet of curiosities displays. Dimensions:
