VINTAGE BDH ACRIFLAVINE APOTHECARY BOTTLE
DAVEY & MOORE (c. 1940s–1950s)

Picture
PRICE: £34

A pristine mid-20th-century British chemical apothecary bottle, standing at 16.5cm tall with a robust 8.0cm diameter. Crafted from rich honey-amber glass designed to isolate light-sensitive antiseptic solutions from ultraviolet degradation, this cylindrical specimen represents the post-war modernization of British pharmaceutical design. The base is crisply embossed with the manufacturing mould serial code "A6-85", paired with the definitive maker's mark "D&M" for the prestigious British glassworks, Davey & Moore Ltd.
The jar features its exceptional, fully original clear glass ground stopper with a thick, heavy square-topped head, providing a brilliant, structural aesthetic contrast to the amber body.
The immaculate cream paper label is in a superb state of preservation, utilizing a bold, minimalist mid-century non-serif typography. Framed by thick brown horizontal bars, the text features the famous corporate initials: "B.D.H", denoting the iconic manufacturer, The British Drug Houses Ltd., London. The product details specify: "Liquor Acriflavinae / Solution of Acriflavine", formulated in compliance with the "B.P.C. 1934" (British Pharmaceutical Codex), alongside a proud "MADE IN ENGLAND" stamp. A central solid brown bands runs horizontally across the layout, while the bottom section displays the specific batch codes "76163" and "2208" flanking the modern "500ml." capacity statement.

Condition:
The antique glass body and its matching clear stopper are in flawless, structurally perfect condition with no chips, cracks, or flea bites. While empty, the interior walls retain a fascinating historical narrative trace: a subtle, authentic ring of chemical tarnishing and product residue along the perimeter between 7cm and 11cm in height—a ghosting effect from the original evaporation of the historic acriflavine compound. A highly graphic showpiece offering superb geometry for an advanced curiosity cabinet or Scientifica vault display.

Dimensions:
  • Height: 16.5cm (including stopper)
  • Diameter: 8.0cm
  • Volume: 500ml

Please note: This vintage artifact is sold strictly as a decorative and collectable object for display. It is empty and does not contain any active substances.
