|
PRICE: £15
A classic piece of British social and pharmaceutical history, this vintage anti-catarrh smelling bottle is a wonderful survivor from the mid-20th century. Moulded in a deep amber glass, the vessel features a distinctive, highly tactile kidney or bean-shaped base, ergonomically designed to be easily carried in a pocket or purse. The bottle remains filled to the neck with its original, compacted dark smelling powder and is fitted with its original black plastic screw-top closure. This item retains both of its original, double-sided paper labels. The front label features a striking black background with crisp print reading: "Dr MACKENZIE / BRAND / For Catarrh. Cold in the Head. Hay Fever. Nervous Head Ache and Faintness. / SMELLING BOTTLE / Screw cap on tightly after use / ANTI-CATARRH." The reverse label details the therapeutic intent, reading: "ANTISEPTIC / MACKENZIE BRAND FORMULA" followed by the product's medicinal composition, and concluding with "SOOTHING & HEALING". The base of the bottle is embossed with the batch or mould number "27". Condition: The amber glass structure is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or structural flaws. The original black plastic screw cap is present, unsealed, and fully functional. Both paper labels are remarkably well-preserved, showing only minor age-related toning and light edge wear, maintaining excellent legibility and a superb authentic patina. Dimensions:
