|
PRICE: £22
A rare and highly interesting early 20th-century antique molded clear glass "slipper" or "limande" baby bottle, produced by the celebrated London medical and surgical outfitters S. Maw, Son & Sons. This vessel stands out due to its distinctive and uncommon internal thread mechanism. The bottle is designed with a flat reverse side to rest horizontally without rolling, measuring just over 21.0cm in length. The upper convex face is prominently embossed with the company's full Edwardian-era circular trademark cartouche: "S. MAW, SON & SONS / LONDON / TRADE MARK". The flat side features crisp molded horizontal graduation lines running from 2 to 18, explicitly marked for "TABLE SPOONS". Mechanically, the goulot is engineered with an internal screw thread (pas de vis intérieur) designed to receive a specialized threaded glass or ebonite stopper, leaving the outer neck smooth for teat attachment. Condition: Offered in excellent antique condition. The heavy-gauge glass body retains great clarity, showing no cloudiness or sickness. Crucially, the delicate internal glass screw threads remain completely intact, clean, and free from the chips or grinding wear often found on these mechanical necks. Embossed text and volumetric lines are beautifully sharp. Dimensions:
