A highly sophisticated mid-to-late 20th-century surgical instrument, manufactured by the prestigious British surgical house Down Bros. Ltd. This specialized mechanical tool is precision-engineered from surgical-grade stainless steel, designed to excise precise tissue samples from deep, restricted anatomical cavities (such as ENT or gynaecological structures) while withstanding rigorous autoclave sterilization.
The mechanical operation is exceptionally clever: the instrument features an ergonomic, heavy-duty plier or secateur-style handle designed to sit securely in the palm. The lower handle grip remains static to stabilize the operator's hand, while the articulated upper lever translates finger pressure through a central, heavy-set folding hinge assembly.
This kinetic force is transmitted down a long, slender 16.5cm shaft positioned at a strict 90-degree angle from the grip, allowing the operator to maintain a clear line of sight.
