VINTAGE HEXAGONAL GREEN GLASS POISON BOTTLE
"NOT TO BE TAKEN" (c. 1940s-1950s)
|
PRICE: £12
An authentic mid-20th-century British green glass apothecary bottle, standing at a substantial standard height of 17.5cm. Moulded into a traditional six-sided safety shape, it features three smooth panels alternating with three deeply ribbed panels—a clever tactile design engineered to warn individuals in dim lighting that the contents were hazardous and strictly for external application. The bold warning "NOT TO BE TAKEN" is crisply embossed across the glass shoulder. The base reveals crisp, prominent embossed machine markings, including the factory mould codes "RB3 10" accompanied by two distinctive manufacturer arrows, beautifully capturing the industrial pharmacy heritage of the British post-war era. Condition: Offered without a stopper or paper label, the glass retains a rich, translucent green hue that catches the light magnificently. Please note that this specimen shows a small, authentic historic chip on one of its hexagonal angles; however, this does not compromise its structural stability, integrity, or its dramatic display appeal. A wonderful, highly affordable staple piece perfect for adding height variation to any vintage medical collection or Scientifica curiosity shelf. Dimensions:
