A rare and highly collectable turn-of-the-century antique green glass commercial bottle from the historic Sweetman George Street Brewery, located in Ryde on the Isle of Wight (I.W.). This complete specimen features its original mechanical closure, representing a prime piece of English regional social history. The heavy, deep green glass body is deeply embossed on the front within a prominent oval cartouche: "SWEETMAN / GEORGE STREET / BREWERY / RYDE I.W.". The bottle is engineered with an internal screw thread neck and retains its authentic, original black molded ebonite screw stopper stamped with the patent name: "LONG". The base (cul de la bouteille) features the crisp, molded maker's marks of the historic glass distributors: "P & R" alongside two interlocking diamonds and the letter "B" (indicative of the Pearsons & Raby glassworks connection). Condition: Presented in excellent antique condition. The rich green glass is structurally flawless with no cracks, star fractures, or deep chips to the rim or base. The internal screw threads are perfectly preserved. The original black ebonite "Long" stopper remains in superb shape and screws smoothly into the neck.
