PRICE: £22
A well-preserved early 20th-century male glass bedside urinal, serving as an authentic and highly tactile example of historical institutional healthcare and clinical nursing equipment. Designed for maximum stability and practicality in a bedridden context, the vessel is constructed from thick, heavy-gauge clear glass. The architectural form is highly specialized: it features a wide, stable flat base that transitions into an asymmetrical, contoured reservoir body to safely contain fluid. The unit tapers into a distinct, restricted neck before extending into an oblique, upward-angled receiving tube. The rim of the aperture is finished with a robust, heavy rolled lip (the "ourlet"), meticulously fire-polished to ensure a smooth, rounded edge. Condition: Offered in excellent structural condition, completely free from cracks, fractures, or chips along the structural seams, base, and thick rolled rim. The glass exhibits an honest, authentic aging profile, characterized by a uniform surface clouding or light mineral dullness (ternissement) typical of period medical glass subjected to historic sterilization or atmospheric moisture, heavily reinforcing its genuine clinical provenance.
