PRICE: £18
A quintessential mid-century British chemist artifact from the historic Boots of Nottingham. Standing at 8.9cm tall with a 2.8cm cylindrical diameter, this clear glass bottle features crisp archival embossing on its base: "UGB" for the United Glass Bottle Manufacturers, alongside specialized factory mold lettering. The glass body showcases its transitional manufacturing heritage, displaying charming, fine air bubbles trapped within the walls—a feature that beautifully catches the light. The bottle retains its original paper label, showcasing the transitional dual-colour printing style of the post-war era. The upper section features a faded salmon-pink emblem housing the classic Boots crest above the product title: "FRIAR'S BALSAM". The lower section, printed in sharp black typography, outlines the highly evocative, dual-purpose historic instructions: "DOSE / Ten drops to one small tea-spoonful on sugar or in water. / FOR INHALATION / One small teaspoonful in a pint of hot water. / Prepared by Boots / NOTTINGHAM". Condition: Offered without a closure, the clear glass structure is in immaculate vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or internal clouding. The original paper label is complete, structurally intact, and adheres firmly to the glass; the red-salmon header text shows authentic historic fading from light exposure over the decades, while the black instructional text remains crisp and perfectly legible. A wonderful, highly narrative display piece for collectors of traditional British household remedies. Dimensions:
