PRICE: £26
A pristine, museum-quality example of mid-century London pharmaceutical history. Standing at 13cm tall, this clear glass bottle features a compact oval footprint measuring 4.2cm by 2.8cm. Designed specifically for external remedies, one face of the glass is molded with sharp, vertical tactile ridges—a historic safety feature implemented to warn users by touch alone that the contents were not for internal consumption. The reverse face bears its original paper label in immaculate, near-mint condition. The crisp black typography reads: "Camphorated OIL / BRITISH PHARMACOPOEIA", complete with a decorative banner motif. It details the vintage instructions: "DIRECTIONS FOR USE / RUB WELL INTO THE PARTS REQUIRED WITH THE HAND OR APPLY ON LINT", alongside a bold, black warning block stating "NOT TO BE TAKEN". The lower section provides exceptional local provenance, showcasing the independent maker's mark: "HUGH LLOYD, Chemist & Optician, 34, Market Place, N.W.11 / Phone: Speedwell 8227". This archival specimen comes complete with its original black screw-cap closure and contains approximately 7cm of its original medicinal oil, featuring a fascinating 2cm layer of solidified chemical sediment at the base. Condition: Both the glass structure and the original black screw cap are in flawless condition. The original paper label is extraordinarily well-preserved, adhering perfectly with no tears, stains, or fading. The internal fluid and its heavy, natural age-sedimentation remain entirely undisturbed, offering a mesmerizing, time-capsule aesthetic for any advanced cabinet of curiosities or medical history collection.
