VINTAGE NORFOLK PHARMACEUTICAL BOTTLE
GLYCERINE & BORAX BY HEYHOE OF FAKENHAM (c. 1910s–1930s)
|
PRICE: £24
A beautifully preserved, locally sourced British apothecary bottle offering exceptional regional provenance. Standing at 8.7cm tall (9.9cm including the closure), this clear glass specimen features a minimalist cylindrical form with a 2.5cm diameter. It retains its authentic, original cork closure, factory-sealed and pressed halfway into the collar. The front face features a dark beige paper label in immaculate, entirely legible condition. The layout displays a sophisticated mix of early 20th-century typographies, reading: "GLYCERINE & BORAX" in a clean sans-serif font, followed by the proprietor's name: "HORACE J. HEYHOE, M.P.S." (Member of the Pharmaceutical Society) in a decorated serif type. The trade description "Chemist & Druggist" is rendered in an elegant printed cursive, above the local address: "MARKET PLACE, FAKENHAM". This remarkable archival piece remains completely undisturbed, still containing approximately 5.8cm of its original, pale yellow-to-clear medicinal fluid formulation. Condition: The glass structure is in flawless condition with no chips, cracks, or clouding. The original paper label is exceptionally well-preserved, adhering perfectly with sharp ink and zero tears. The original cork and factory seal remain completely intact, preserving the internal fluid exactly as it was prepared decades ago. A superb, deeply nostalgic addition to any collection of English provincial chemist history or curated cabinet of curiosities. Dimensions:
