VINTAGE NORFOLK DISPENSARY BOTTLE
J. HEYHOE M.P.S., FAKENHAM (c. 1920s–1940s)
|
PRICE: £14
A compelling piece of regional East Anglian social history, this cylindrical clear glass chemist's bottle originates from the market town of Fakenham in Norfolk. The vessel features a partially inserted original cork stopper and retains a 7mm residual layer of its original amber-yellow liquid contents at the base. The front face retains its original paper label, weathered and darkened by time, which proudly displays the pharmacist's professional credentials: "HO???E J. HEYHOE, M.P.S. / Chemist & Druggist / MARKET PLACE, FAKENHAM." The inclusion of the "M.P.S." post-nominal letters confirms the chemist’s formal registration with the Pharmaceutical Society, adding excellent historical validity to this local dispensary item. Condition: The clear glass structure remains solid and intact, with no cracks or chips. The original cork is securely aged in place. The paper label shows significant, authentic darkening and features a historical dried product spill running down the front face, which partially obscures three letters of the top line. This honest, untouched state heavily contributes to its antiquarian charm and "found" apothecary aesthetic. Dimensions:
