LIQUOR FERRI PERCHLORIDI, P.B. (c. 1890s-1910s)
|
PRICE: £45
A highly elegant Edwardian clear glass apothecary shop bottle, standing at 17.5cm tall. The front of the jar features a premium, beautifully preserved white enameled shield cartouche baked directly into the glass. The lettering is masterfully left clear in transparency to read: "Liq. Ferri perchl. P.B.", denoting its compliance with the strict standards of the British Pharmacopoeia. This famous historic iron perchloride solution was widely used in the late Victorian and Edwardian eras as a powerful styptic to arrest bleeding and as an iron tonic to treat severe anaemia. Unlike many specimens of this era that have lost their original closures, this bottle retains its authentic, matching clear glass square-topped ground stopper. It remains fully functional and free-moving, allowing for open inspection and tactile appreciation of the period craftsmanship. Condition: The clear antique glass is in immaculate condition with no chips, cracks, or cloudiness, catching the natural light beautifully. The pristine white enamel shield is perfectly intact. Its sharp typography and the historical significance of this classic pharmaceutical formula make it a superb, high-end display piece for an authentic cabinet of curiosities. Dimensions:
