PRICE: £22
A remarkably preserved mid-century British pharmaceutical specimen from the historic high-street chemist, Boots of Nottingham. Standing at 10.3cm tall, this clear glass bottle features a compact oval footprint measuring 3.5cm by 2.0cm. For historical safety, one face of the glass is molded with vertical tactile ridges, a design specifically engineered to alert users by touch that the preparation was intended solely for external application. The reverse face holds its original light beige paper label, featuring striking red typography. The layout is topped by a classic crest containing a Gothic-script 'B' for Boots, followed by the formula details: "Oil of Wintergreen (Synthetic) / Methyl Salicylate, B.P.". The vintage text notes: "Makes an effective liniment when mixed with Olive Oil / Keep away from flame", with the manufacturer's imprint: "Packed by Boots / NOTTINGHAM". This archival piece remains completely sealed with its original metal screw cap, which is crisply embossed with the "Boots" signature on the top. The chamber still contains approximately 2.5cm of its original, clear medicinal fluid. Condition: The glass body and the branded metal cap are in excellent, untouched condition. The original paper label is complete, firmly attached, and perfectly legible with brilliant red print, exhibiting only the lightest authentic age-toning. The original internal liquid and factory seal remain completely undisturbed, offering an exceptional, time-capsule showpiece for curators of mid-century industrial chemistry or medical displays.
