PRICE: £24
An iconic and beautifully preserved British-market pharmaceutical bottle from the renowned Pond's Extract Company. Standing as a superb example of early 20th-century chemist warehousing, this clear glass bottle features a distinctive rectangular-oval silhouette, with wide faces that curve softly into flat 1.2cm side panels. The base is deeply embossed with the historical commendation year "1846", marking the original formulation of their famous Witch Hazel distillate. The front face of the glass is crisply embossed with the company's signature nomenclature: "PONDS EXTRACT". In exceptional contrast, the reverse face retains its original, beautifully aged yellowish paper label. The black typography remains perfectly legible, reading: "PREPARED EXCLUSIVELY BY THE / POND'S EXTRACT COMPANY, 103 St John Street, London, E.C.1. AND NEW YORK U.S.A.", featuring the iconic stylized logo where the outer letters 'P' and 'T' flank the brand name. The inclusion of the post-1917 London 'E.C.1' postal code provides fascinating geographic and chronological provenance. Condition: Offered without a closure, the clear glass structure is in excellent, clean condition with no cracks, heavy clouding, or notable abrasions. The original paper label is remarkably well-preserved for its age, adhering firmly to the glass with only minor, authentic silvering and peripheral toning that validates its vintage status. A timeless, highly graphic addition to any apothecary collection or historic vanity display. Dimensions:
