PRICE: £40
A notorious and highly collectible piece of medical history, this 12.6cm tall cylindrical glass bottle once contained the infamous "Mrs Winslow's Soothing Syrup". Formulated in the 19th century to calm teething infants, this wildly popular patent medicine was later exposed and condemned by medical associations for containing lethal amounts of morphine and pure alcohol. The bottle is entirely wrapped in heavy, crisp embossed lettering around its circumference, reading: "MRS WINSLOW'S SOOTHING SYRUP / ANGLO AMERICAN DRUG CO / SUCCESSORS TO / CURTIS & PERKINS PROPRIETORS". Condition: Offered without a stopper, this genuine antiquity boasts a wonderful light aqua tint with authentic tiny air bubbles trapped within the mould during its manufacturing process. The antique glass is in excellent structural condition with no chips or cracks. An elite narrative piece for any advanced collection of historic pharmaceutical anomalies or a dark Scientifica vault.
