ANTIQUE CAMP COFFEE & CHICORY ESSENCE GLASS BOTTLE
R. PATERSON & SONS, GLASGOW (c. 1890–1910)

PRICE: £14
A highly recognizable and iconic late Victorian to Edwardian antique molded glass bottle for "Camp Coffee", the world's pioneering commercial liquid coffee essence introduced by R. Paterson & Sons of Glasgow. The bottle is constructed from heavy-gauge glass with a distinct pale aqua / blue-green tint, featuring charming period character such as original enclosed atmospheric air bubbles. The vessel is designed with a stable square cross-section base measuring approximately 5.0 x 5.0cm. Three sides of the body are deeply and crisply embossed with the historical branding: Face 1: "PATERSON'S", Face 2: "GLASGOW", and Face 3: "ESS / CAMP COFFEE & CHICORY" (notably sharing a single stylized 'C' for both Camp and Coffee). The fourth face remains smooth. The neck terminates in a thick, classic collar designed strictly for a traditional cork stopper (goulot pour bouchon de liège), and the base (cul) features a faint molded letter "P" for the proprietor. Condition: Presented in good antique condition. The glass body exhibits superb period translucency and color. True to its age and decades of domestic use, there is a minor historic flake/chip (trace d'éclat) to the glass on the rim of the goulot; this is an honest flaw that does not compromise the structural integrity or display value of the piece. The embossed lettering remains remarkably sharp and clean. Dimensions:
